Club Officers Installation Ceremony and Regular Meeting held on 2 July

HKIE Toastmasters Club (TMC):

Club Officers Installation Ceremony and Regular Meeting held on 2 July

Ir Mark Ma

The Club officers Installation Ceremony and Regular Meeting was held successfully on 2 July 2014 at the HKIE headquarter. It was our great honour to have HKIE president Ir Victor Cheung, HKIE Young Member Committee (YMC) president Ir Rayn Chak, and Toastmaster Area O3 Governor Mr Wayne Tse to witness our ceremony. The club officers installation ceremony aimed to thank the outgoing officers for their efforts and a job well done and welcome the new club leadership team to their roles and responsibilities. The theme of the meeting ‘A new start’ was closely related to the new beginning for the new club officers who will serve the club for the term of 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2015. Ir Mark Ma is the new club president and he promises to lead the HKIE Toastmasters Club in coming year term.

The benefits of joining the HKIE TMC are to improve skills in public speaking, to learn how to think on your feet, confidently express key points even at a few seconds notice and to practise leadership skills in a friendly and positive feedback environment. Mastering these skills will allow you to grasp success opportunities for a fulfilling career. This is in line with the mission of the HKIE Toastmasters Club: “Engineering Better Communication and Leadership”

HKIE Toastmasters Club will offer you a leadership and communication workshop on 16 Aug 2013 (Saturday) in which a seasoned leadership trainer, Mr. Steve Yu, will give you a talk on how to be a leader. Participants will learn essential elements to become great leaders and enjoy fun games, impromptu speeches, prepared speeches and evaluation sessions which will help you improve your communication skills.

A Humorous Speech and Evaluation Speech contest will be held on 4 September 2014 (Thursday). You can join the audience and enjoy an evening full of laughter given by the toastmasters and learn by observation about public speaking and evaluation skills. The winners of the HKIE TMC speech contest will then participate in an Area speech contest (in mid-September) and compete against other TMCs.

More distinguished toastmasters (DTM) will be invited to deliver a mini-workshop on leadership and communication in coming months. A talk on “Motivation” will be given by Ir KF Tam (DTM) on 8 October 2014 (Wednesday). On 5 November 2014 (Wednesday), a Halloween meeting will be held in an appropriately spooky but funny manner. In addition, Mr Wilson Yau (DTM) will inspire us with a mini leadership/communication workshop that evening.

Those interested in joining HKIE’s TMC please contact our Vice President Public Relations Mr. Franco Chan at vppr@hkietmc.com or Vice President Membership Ir Lily Chan at vpm@hkietmc.com.
